About
My work sits between applied electricity-system modelling and academic research.
At Wien Energie, I lead quantitative analysis for long-term planning and investment decisions in the electricity system. At BOKU University, I am affiliated with the Institute of Sustainable Economic Development. The interaction between these roles makes the assumptions embedded in energy system models a practical concern rather than an abstract one.
My perspective is informed by work in utilities, grid infrastructure, energy markets, and research. A central strand of my research develops economically coherent approaches to land-use conflict and wind-power siting by grounding analysis in actual decisions. In work on wind-power zoning in Lower Austria, I show what valuation of local social costs is implicit in zoning decisions.
